alright
this is how it goes:
emo means emotional hardcore.
i will save you the history lesson, because i don't give a fuck about it. too many of these so called explanatory websites are stuck in the past. there is just as much, if not more going on now than there ever was in the past. in it's truest sense, emo is simply diy punk. that being true, emo is inherently political. a common misconception is that emo songs and lyrics are written around the misogynist formula of: boy likes girl, girl breaks girls heart, boy removes girls eyes from her head. emotional hardcore is not the whiny drivel that spin magazine and much music feeds you. you won't see emo music videos on television. you won't see emo tours promoted by honda. you won't see emo bands signing autographs, or having a dressing room. do not support the corporate acquisition of diy hardcore

bands
every one of these websites needs at least a small section where the author namedrops the bands that (s)he feels are necessary. here is mine. eventually some of these will become links, i don't have time right this second.
