THE AIRPLANE TRIP

Try tying the opening, awards and closing ceremonies all together. Why not have the room arranged like the seating on a giant airplane?

For a pre-opening activity, hand everyone who comes to the meeting a "ticket". The opening is a call, announcing Cub Scout Airline flight number (add your Pack number) is ready for boarding. People board (take their seats) as the flight crew (one of the dens) collects the tickets. When everyone is seated, have them fasten their seat belts and prepare for take off.

The Captain (Cubmaster) announces the destination of this flight and wishes all a pleasant trip. The airplane takes off and flies all around the United States, landing art various cities to see a skit by a nationally famous den, or be led in song by the renown Cub Scout singers.

For awards, the airplane lands at various places to see famous people (those Cub Scouts being recognized). Make as many stops as you need to accommodate all the recognitions. The Captain might present the boys their awards with some silver pilots wings (cardboard cutouts covered with foil or painted with metallic paint).

At end of the trip, the aircraft returns home. Pilots announces the he was pleased to have all aboard on this trip and wishes them a good night. Folks disembark and go home.
