ADVANCEMENT - THE FOURTH BEAD DEN CEREMONY

Cub Scouts who have completed 12 achievements and earned the Wolf or Bear rank, receive their badges at a pack ceremony. But it's a good idea to recognize them in the Den too, with a simple ceremony as soon as they finish the 12th achievement.

PERSONNEL: Den Leader, advancing Cub Scout.

EQUIPMENT: Bead from Immediate Recognition Kit.

DEN LEADER: Today (Name of Cub) gets his fourth bead for passing three more achievements for Wolf (or bear) rank. Do you know that means? It means that he has finished all 12 achievements for Wolf (or Bear). At our next Pack meeting, he'll get his new badge I think that's great! He'll wear his new Wolf (or Bear) badge on his left shirt pocket.

(attach bead to thong of Progress Toward Ranks patch).

Keep working on advancement, (Name the Cub). That's the way you'll have the most fun in our Den and Pack. Let's see you other Cubs keep advancing, too. Congratulations!

CLOSING -     Newspaper's Role in Fight for Independence

Freedom of our country was partly because of the printing of information on paper. The words that moved people were put in pamphlets that were circulated to all of the people. This informed all the people where meetings would be held and the goals for the meetings. Later, the subjects that were discussed and the speeches given at those meetings.  This powerful method of passing out information stays with us today, and history will tell if the paper is keeping with its  history as a path for truth.

Appropriate Closing Put together pack meeting as a paper. (Put titles onto a felt board)

Read the review:

If you missed today's Pack Meeting you may have missed the meeting of the decade. Maybe the meeting of

    the Century.

Cubmaster was the inspiration all great showmen follow. The Den Leaders perfect rhythm and coordinated production made tonight an evening with the stars. Den Leader and his band kept the songbirds stunned with tonight's selection of music. Den Leader floorshow with Den had us in stitches. The stars of the show, showing spirit were the Boys for coming and showing off all of their talent. And for bringing mom and dad, so this could be a family affair.

Cubmaster: (Looks at all of the Den Leaders with a tear in his eye.) "That's the edition, Print it."

Stop the presses; add one part to the paper. During the closing, stop everything, yell out that one more thing needs to make today's copy. Use this time to make a special announcement or to give a special award.
