Yoga
Cathy has been teaching yoga for about ten years. She is instrumental in maintaining the Inward Bound Yoga Program in Ann Arbor. Cathy’s practice has a strong base of Iyengar methods, with some important innovations. From a long-time involvement in dance, she has developed a style which sometimes becomes a flowing sequence of poses rather that static isolated ones. Along with this it has become natural to use music as a guide and inspiration for these movements. This has led to actual performance pieces, yoga-dance, where various moods and even contemporary commentaries relating to yoga have been enacted. Billy and Kenny’s music have played an important part in many of these.
Sun Grumble is the portrayal in movement of a favorite children’s story, with music and narration by the King Brothers, recorded at ages 12 and 8. Kachina Song is a piece set to a friend’s poem and Ken and Billy’s music, performed ensemble with yoga-dancers, poet and musicians. Cathy’s yoga practice and teaching of traditional yoga along with her "personal twists" are a solid, positive influence at Frog Holler. Despite this, Ken and the boys are a familiar story; they understand the value of yoga, appreciate the philosophy, plan to do it, but are usually a little too busy, too stiff and too lazy to carry it out. There is always much room for improvement at Frog Holler.
